Mining through stone and gem veins deep in the Gemhollow mine
The Company Is Hiring

What is Gemhollow?

Gemhollow is a hand-painted mining RPG where every block is yours to break. You start with a basic pickaxe and fifteen pockets of carrying space, and you dig — sideways, downward, wherever the ore is — placing your own ladders, ceiling supports and bridging beams to reach seams nobody else can.

Haul what you find back to the surface, sell it on a market whose prices actually move, and turn the money into a better pickaxe, a bigger pack, a brighter lamp. Then go deeper, because the good stuff is always deeper.

Two full worlds, 56 story quests, six hand-built puzzle vaults, pets, robot miners and a contracts board — and the whole thing is free, with rewarded ads that are always optional.

Two Descents

The Worlds

Two complete mines, each 500 metres deep, each with its own ores, tools, hazards and economy.

The surface hub in daylight, with Mine Control, Market, Item Shop and Gear Shop around the mine entrance World I

The Surface Mine

Home base is a sunlit village — Mine Control, the Market, the Item Shop, the Gear Shop — built around the tunnel entrance that drops you into the shaft. Stone gives way to iron, then gold, then diamond, and the rare stuff starts appearing once you're past a hundred metres down.

  • Quartz from 25m, Ruby from 80m, Sapphire from 160m
  • Prismatic Cores from 200m, Aetherium from 250m
  • The Elder Gate waits at 240m
  • 40 chests per mine, golden ones below 150m
The Abyss hub, a cavern lit by glowing crystals and mushrooms around the portal World II

The Abyss

Through the gate, everything is harder and worth more. Abyssal Rock takes ten times the swings of surface stone, toxic gas pockets bleed your vitality until you've earned a rebreather, and the ores are corrupted mirrors of the ones you knew — Shadow Iron, Void Diamond, Star Sapphire.

  • Toxic gas: 15 vitality/second without a mask
  • Filter Mask cuts it to 5/s, Rebreather to zero
  • Void-Sealed Rock and Obsidian Barriers gate the descent
  • Dark Aetherium sells for $5,000 a unit

Game Systems

Not a feature list — these are the actual systems running in the game right now.

A Mine You Reshape

500 rows deep, 50 columns wide, procedurally generated and completely destructible. Tunnel any direction and place ladders, ceiling supports and bridging beams to build your own route down — then fall down your own shaft if you're careless.

12 Skill Minigames

Hit ore and you earn the yield. Time the Iron Striker, purify gold, align diamond fissures, hold a harmonic resonance — nail it perfectly for five units instead of one, plus a bonus gem roll.

Six Puzzle Vaults

Hand-built labyrinths, not random rooms. Dodge flame jets, ride wind geysers, survive a gas maze, pick the vault lock — each one guards a Keystone the campaign needs.

Company Contracts

Daily, weekly and monthly jobs from the Gemhollow Mining Company that scale with your pickaxe tier. Clear 40 in a month and you keep that month's exclusive aura for good.

Ten Pets

Buy them with gems, not cash. A Quartz Dog adds speed and ladders, a Ruby Cat doubles every ore you collect, a Sapphire Bat throws away spare stone so your pack stays useful.

Robot Miners

Donate ore to build a fleet of twelve automated units, from a Stone Excavator up to an Aetheric Unit at six times the yield. They keep digging while the app is closed — up to twelve hours on a full power cell.

A Market That Moves

Ore prices drift, surge and recover in real time — dump too much of one ore and you depress its price, or wait for a demand event and double your money. Add a 30-day login ladder, stacking boosts, 17 auras and 38 Play Games achievements on top.

Earn Every Tier

The Pickaxe Ladder

Real damage values from the game. Each tier is the difference between bouncing off a block and breaking it.

Basic Pickaxe

Iron Pickaxe

Iron Pickaxe

20 dmg

Cracks the hard iron the basic pick can't touch.

Gold Pickaxe

Gold Pickaxe

50 dmg

Cuts through rock and gold with ease.

$16,000 + ore
Diamond Pickaxe

Diamond Pickaxe

120 dmg

$75,000 + ore
Augmented Diamond Pickaxe

Augmented Diamond

250 dmg

Infused with Aetherium — resonates with Prismatic Cores.

Quest reward only

The Abyss runs its own ladder on top of this one — a Makeshift pickaxe, then Void-Tinged (150), Astral (600) and beyond, each forged from ores that only exist down there. Alongside it: eight backpack tiers from 15 slots to 1,000, four head-torch levels, gas masks, ladder pouches, drill bits and battery packs.

What the deep is worth

  • Quartz Quartz $100
  • Ruby Ruby $300
  • Sapphire Sapphire $600
  • Prismatic Core Prismatic Core $750
  • Aetherium Aetherium $2,500

Every one of these has a corrupted Abyss counterpart worth roughly double — Dark Quartz, Blood Ruby, Star Sapphire, Void Core, and Dark Aetherium at $5,000. And the Market moves those prices while you play.

Hand-Built Challenges

The Vaults

Six of them, each a designed puzzle with its own hazard and its own Keystone at the end.

I

The Vault of Earth

A pitch-dark procedural labyrinth. You get 99 ladders and 25 beams — the challenge is navigating the maze and solving the gate sequence, not rationing supplies.

Keystone of Earth
II

The Vault of Fire

Fifty-two rows of hand-tuned maze threaded with flame-jet emitters and magma rock that detonates when struck. Reach the venting console at the top to shut it down.

Keystone of Fire
III

The Vault of Sky

Seventy-five rows straight up. Build platforms over wind geysers, ride the updraft, land the jump — miss and you start the climb again.

Keystone of Sky
IV

The Toxic Vault

Twenty ladders, five gas pockets, and a golden chest at the far end. Break the wrong block and the fog comes for you.

Golden Chest
V

The Abyssal Vault

A tight bridging puzzle in the deep dark, with a Keystone of Fire waiting at the end of a long horizontal run.

Abyss · World II
VI

The Void Vault

Five wind geysers, fifty beams, fifty ladders and a Keystone of Sky. The last vault before the Overworld Interface.

The Claim

A plot of land the Company sets aside for you, early — decorate the grounds, then step inside your house and greenhouse and decorate those too.

A fully decorated Claim: a Miner's Cabin and Greenhouse surrounded by a pond, statue, obelisk, well and garden fencing
Every item in this shot is real catalogue art, placed and screenshotted in the live build.

Yours from early on

The quest Stake Your Claim hands you the plot not far into the surface game — name it, and a free Miner's Cabin is yours to set down wherever you like. Everything after that is bought with Sovereigns, a currency that exists only for the Claim.

You earn Sovereigns by shipping raw ore at the plot's own Shipping Office — no trip to the Market required. It's a second use for the ore piling up in your bag, not a second grind.

Purely yours to arrange

Every tree, fence, path and building here is cosmetic — nothing you place changes your mining stats or your progress. It's the one part of Gemhollow that's just for you: your cabin, your garden, your greenhouse, arranged exactly how you want them.

Collect a full set of any category — every fence type, every seat, every plant — and the Company pays out a one-time Sovereigns bonus for the completionists.

Inside the Miner's Cabin: a furnished bedroom with a fireplace, bookshelf, wardrobe and wall art
Inside the House Beds, hearths, tables, storage, lighting, wall art
Inside the Greenhouse: potting benches, hanging baskets and pots of growing plants
Inside the Greenhouse Fittings, and eight species of plant that actually grow

Plants are the one thing on the Claim that runs on a real clock — pot one in the Greenhouse and it grows through its stages over 4 to 12 hours of real time, timer or app open or not. Grow one to full bloom and it unlocks for the house too, not just the glasshouse it was raised in.

Look The Part

Twenty-One Miners

Cosmetic appearances, not classes — every miner plays identically, so nothing is locked behind a look. Swap them at the Character Market.

Male Miner Female Miner
Starter

Male & Female Miner

Both unlocked from the first launch. Pick one on the character select screen and get digging.

Prismatic Miner
Quest

Prismatic Miner

Earned by finishing A Lost Legend. Collect it from the Character Market once the quest closes.

Golden Miner
Day 30

Golden Miner

The prize at the end of the 30-day login ladder. Miss a day and the streak skips — no shortcuts.

Lucky Miner
Secret

Lucky Miner

A rare roll from supply crates. Nobody sells it and no quest grants it — you get lucky, or you don't.

Astral Weaver
Founders

Astral Weaver

Part of the Founders Pack, at the game's largest visual scale. There's a corrupted Abyss variant too.

Jasper
Hidden

Jasper

The fence with the hideout below the mine. Play as him — if you can work out how he's unlocked.

Plus the Elite Prospector and Mythic Excavator from the token shop, the Rookie Miner kit, Blacksmith and Elite Vanguard as prestige rewards, and Abyss-tinted versions of nearly all of them — 21 in total.
